I have an LG G6 phone LGUS997 and it's still stuck on Android 7 OS. Is there anything I can do to help me out?

I find it hard to believe my phone is still on os 7. Someone said in a post that UCL us Cellular rom will work to upgrade the OS to at least Android 8. Is that or will it make the phone dysfunctional? LGUS99715a is the current software.
